Proxy site is a plain website that can be accessed 24/7 from any computer that has a normal internet connection and an internet – browser. Proxy Servers are generally in the form of “IP Addresses” that can be accessed and using HTTP or SOCKS protocols. The working mechanism of both Proxy Site and Server is nearly the same; they both download content from the destination and forward to it the user who is using them.
Working of a typical proxy server:
Suppose you are using a proxy server to access MySpace.com, your computer will first contact the proxy server and the proxy server in then download the content from MySpace.com on itself and at the same time will start to forward the content to your computer. ›Why prefer Proxy Sites?
The basic working of proxy sites make them much safer than proxy servers. The popular scripts like “Glype” or “phProxy” make it nearly impossible to spoof or capture your passwords or sensitive data. Though you used never use a proxy site/proxy server to access sensitive data like your BANK Account or important email addresses. The connection between your computer and the proxy site can be encrypted using a SSL Proxy Site, but the connection from the server to the destination website can be encrypted and hence you should avoid to accessing sensitive data on proxy sites.
Proxy Servers can be left open or a purpose to capture your data; they are often called HONEYPOTS for the same reason so that many users fall prey to the open proxy and the demented owner can capture their data or even passwords and use them for wrong purposes.
