›What is the difference between a Proxy Site and a Proxy Server?
Proxy site is a plain website that can be accessed 24/7 from any computer that has a normal internet connection and an internet – browser. Proxy Servers are generally in the form of “IP Addresses” that can be accessed and using HTTP or SOCKS protocols. The working mechanism of both Proxy Site and Server is nearly the same; they both download content from the destination and forward to it the user who is using them.
Working of a typical proxy server:
Suppose you are using a proxy server to access MySpace.com, your computer will first contact the proxy server and the proxy server in then download the content from MySpace.com on itself and at the same time will start to forward the content to your computer. Hence you will be able to get the content as soon the server itself gets it.
Proxy Sites are typically of the following Types:
- HTTP Proxy Server
- Socks 4/5 Proxy Server
- Further they can be classified based on their anonymity levels:
- HTTP Anonymous Proxy: These proxy servers do not a send a piece of information about your computer known as “HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR”. This field has information about your own IP Address and tells the destination that a proxy-server is being used. Suppose you are using a proxy server to access MySpace.com and the proxy server does not send the” HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR” information to MySpace.com, they will be not be able to tell if you are using a proxy server or not.
- HTTP Non-Anonymous Proxy: These proxy servers send a lot of information about its user to the destination and are usually unsafe to use.
- HTTP Elite Proxies: These are the best proxy servers to use; they send the least amount of data to the destination.

Remove Images: This removes all images of the website you are accessing, helps to improve speeds
Remove Flash: Removes all FLASH elements of the page, like FLV videos and SWF ads.
